display window 1,37 x 1,50 m, Galleri 21, 2002, Malmö

A shop window displays images and texts, numbered, categorised, and indexed. The collection includes photographs, postcards, newspaper articles and images from tourist brochures, as well as art catalogues which deal with 'the North'. A series of quotations additionally illustrates different aspects of the Scandinavian self-image. In Svenska Utifrån ('Swedish from outside', taken from the title of a Swedish language book) the subjective experience of living abroad is represented by means of a display of collated materials.
